Catch up!

Sorry for no posts lately. Life has been busy and and I really haven't stopped to take time to blog! So I'll do a quick post to catch up....=)

  •  We recently went to Papa's house for his 89th birthday. I will hopefully do a post about that soon. On Sunday while we were there I stayed home from church to find a bunch of pictures of Papa so I could scan them at home. I love, love, love going through those dresses at his house and founding old pictures. This time my favorite treasure to bring home was 2 really old news papers dated in 1945!! The Headlines on one of the papers said, "HITLER DEAD" and another one said, "FDR dies." That was Franklin Roosevelt. Anyways, yesterday I sat down a actually looked at them. It was so cool to read. Everything was about WWII and it was really cool. I could almost picture myself back in that time.
  • On Sunday a few of us went down to Grandma and Grandpa's house to see Aunt Marlene and the girls. It was fun. Nikki and I sat out on Grandma's front step and looked at pictures from Florida. :)
  • Do you want to know what I'm doing a lot of lately? Scanning pictures of Papa onto our computer. It is actually really fun. I love seeing pictures and so this was a good job for me. Here is one of my favorite pictures from when he was young. It isn't my favorite though. There is one that is my most favorite picture of him ever...but....I couldn't find it when we went to Papa's last so next time I will look really hard for it.
This was when he was in the war. He is in the Middle.
Don't even ask me who those other 2 dudes are....
  • Karin and the boys drove from Florida with Jamie and Corine to com visit us! It was really fun to see them. On Friday we got to babysit them while Karin did something else and it was so much fun to have them. I dressed them up like cowboys and took some pictures. :)
I edited them so they look old but when I look a that picture of Papa, I can see that
they really don't look all that old! ;)

  • Today I went shopping and found some more summer clothes so I'm happy.
  • I am vowing to read more books this summer. Maybe if I do I'll tell you about them all at the end of summer. Oh man...I don't want to think about fall already!
  • Well, I have work to do. Stay tuned for more! :)

Florida Trip 2014

As most of you know already, I was able to spend a fun week in Florida last week. We left home on Monday and then came back home on Friday. It was a short visit but packed with a lot of fun.
Here are some of my favorite things that we did/memories:

  • Being able to watch Frozen on our flight over to Florida. The plane was really nice and big
  • our rental car
  • meeting everyone on Tuesday. It was so much fun getting to meet people like Mary,  Suzy, and then see other people that I haven't see for awhile like Zach and Karin, Aunt Marlene and Nikki, and the boys
  • Tuesday Swimming. Janeal and Dad didn't bring their swimming clothes so we went over to Wal-mart and bought some and when we got back to our hotel, Dad, Janeal, and I got to go swimming at our hotel. The pool was so nice and refreshing. The water was salty though and I tended to swim under water with my eyes open which I regretted later. My eyes got red so it looked like I had been crying! But when we got to our pool, I jumped right in and didn't even care...it was great.
  • Dinner at Zach and Karin's on Tuesday! When we got to their house, the boys came running out and they were laughing and so excited to see us! It was so cute. They are getting so big.
  • Another fun thing we did at Zach's house on Tuesday was play the Kinect.
  • Janeal and I helped Emily clean her room after Zach and Karin. Her roommates and her had to clean their room for White Glove and it was a bit stressful but I thought it was a little fun.
  • Graduation Day!!
  • Sitting with Nikki for Graduation We were whispering a little but oh well...
  • Getting Emily and going to our hotel for lunch.
  • Going to the Beach/Park to hang out with Zach's family, Mary's family, Mary and Suzy,  Jamie, and Aunt Marlene and Nikki.
  • On Wednesday  evening, Janeal and I got to stay with Zach and Karin. It was fun being able to hang out with them some more on Thursday.
  • We went swimming on Thursday and it was really fun. Benjamin loved the water and I taught him how to splash Dad. ;) He would splash Dad and get such a kick out of it. Alexander was  a little bit more scared of the water but pretty soon he got a little use to it.
  • Dinner at Zach and Karin's on Thursday. Zach grilled some fish and the whole dinner turned out really yummy.
  • We had to go back to our hotel right after dinner so we said good byes and headed off. I really don't like good byes. They are hard.
  • Our flight back home went well and I even slept a little on the plane and on the way home in the van. And so we returned to rainy, cold, but amazingly green, Washington. The first thing I did when we got home was run out to our lilac bush and pick some fresh lilacs for our kitchen. I love lilacs so having fresh ones in our house is important to me when they are in bloom.
So those were some of the things we did and highlights. The weather was really hot and I got a little sunburned but I didn't care to much because I figured that I probably wouldn't see sun in Washington for awhile. (I guess I was wrong though! This week has been so sunny so far and I love it. I've been able to sit outside with my book and I'm even getting a tan! I'm surprised seeing as it is only May!)

And...here are lots of pictures. :) (Nikki, feel free to take any of these pictures if you want)

Our rental car
The pinning ceremony. Emily is on the left on the very top row. Tony is the big tall
guy on the top row in the center. Mary is on the top row like 4 people away from Emily

Mom, Emily and Dad

Emily, Mary, and Tony. (Mary is Emily's good friend and Tony is
our cousin. Mary and Tony are dating and Emily and Cameron are as
well so they all liked doing things together.)

Haha...this is Tony. I just had to put this
one up.

Aunt Marlene, Tony, and Nikki. I took
this shot because I wanted to get the plam
trees.

Aunt Marlene, Tony, Emily, Mom, and Dad.

Mary and Nikki.

Our swimming pool at our hotel

Right around this time last year, Granny sent us some stuffed
animals that would sing for the boys. She really wanted the boys
to have them but we never got them to the boys until this trip. (and
we only brought this bear) The boys loved him! First thing in the morning
this little bear would be singing his song. I only wished Granny was still
here so I could tell her in my letter how much they loved this present from
their great-grandma.

Graduation! Emily graduated with Honors so she was
happy.

Emily shaking the president of PCC's hand.

And Tony shaking his hand.

Okay...I had this really nice picture and Zach leaned in right them to
photo bomb it. Wow...thanks Zach. ;)

sisters!
Emily and Suzy

Mary, Tony, and Emily

These 4 were good friends during college.
They had lots of fun times together!

At the Park/Beach, Alexander and Benjamin raced over to say
hi to Mary and Tony and the rest of the people.

Umm..I think this is Alexander...coming down the slide

Me and Alexander. :)

Suzy and Benjamin....man. My sunglasses got around to everyone! ;)

I LOVE this picture of Benjamin. He looks like his is this big, tough guy.

swimming at our hotel on Thursday!

Me and Benjamin.

Alexander

Okay. This was cute. The boys have their little bikes that they like
to ride around on and the seats on these bikes come up. Whenever
they would find a leaf or some twig or something, they would run over
to their bikes, lift of the seat, and put it in. They had a big collection of leaves
already in there!

Lovely Alexander....Hahaha.

Benjamin was squirting Dad with the squirt gun and Dad was squirting him
so when they quit, they were a little wet. Janeal said something about him
being wet and he started to take off his shorts. We quickly told him to keep
his shorts on and that he would dry! It was kinda funny though because he
knew that he was wet so he was ready to get some new clothes on!

Alexander started looking through this book all
by himself and everyone thought it was funny so
I turned it around and told him to look at me...:))

I think they look a lot a like here...maybe not though.
It was a really, really fun trip. :) I'm so glad I was able to go.
